Lift Station 4b
City of Gig Harbor, WA
fi architecture, inc. was invited, along with other design professionals, to take part in a city-hosted architectural design charrette to develop concepts for a new replacement sewer lift station, pump house, public restrooms and welcome center located in the Jerisich Dock area of the City’s Skansie Park. This premier waterfront park serves as the City’s central gathering place for many annual events, summer concerts, recreation and general leisure.
Our concept included reducing the building height to preserve upland views to the bay by utilizing a flat roof structure that would double as a public viewing platform. The remainder of the park and grass area would be reopened to allow cross views of the water and the historic Skansie net shed. Additional accessibility features would allow access to the viewing platform and address grade transitions from Harborview Drive to Jerisich Pier. All concepts were presented to the general public for their consideration and input and ultimately the City Council voted to incorporate many of the recommendations our collaborative design team presented.
