Roof replacement

The Horizons Elementary School existing asphalt shingle roof was replaced with a self-adhered single-ply roof membrane.

Maintenance projects are key to the longevity of school buildings, and we pride ourselves on working with districts to help them properly maintain schools.

Rather than taking the standard approach of selecting one color for the whole roof, we worked with North Thurston Public Schools staff to use design to break up the massive roof. We recommended using a different color to help emphasize student entry points into the building, and ribs created “texture” to provide different looks. These strategies combined to create a simple yet visually interesting roof for the school.
