craft district: Heritage Distilling Co.’s Tumwater Location Opens June 4

Distillery and tasting room partnering with South Puget Sound Community College  (SPSCC) as anchor tenants in Tumwater’s new Craft District

GIG HARBOR, WA (May 25, 2021) – Heritage Distilling Company, Inc. (HDC), Washington state’s largest independently owned craft distillery, will open its newest location in Tumwater, Washington on June 4, 2021. The building is shared with South Puget Sound Community College (SPSCC) as part of the school’s Craft  Brewing & Distilling program.

The production equipment from HDC’s Gig Harbor Flagship location is in the process of being moved to HDC  Tumwater, which will include Nonna, HDC’s original 2,000-liter custom Italian-made still and HDC bottling equipment. Annual capacity will be 150,000 proof gallons, per the current Washington state maximum for craft licensees.

“We are thrilled that Heritage Distilling is part of the new Craft District in Tumwater. Together we are joining forces with South Puget Sound Community College to be the anchor tenants in this historic venture,” said Justin  Stiefel, CEO of Heritage Distilling Co. “We thank REGEN (Developer Regenerative Development Partners),  South Puget Sound Community College, the City of Tumwater, the Port of Olympia and the Washington State  Legislature, among many others, who have worked very hard to make this happen. Tumwater holds a special place in the Northwest for its history of craft beverage production. It is only fitting that a world class craft production and training facility, working with the community college, helps to revitalize this proud tradition in  Tumwater using its Artesian water source. Playing on the old tagline of the historic Olympia Beer, we believe  ‘it’s still the water’,” Stiefel added.

Heritage Distilling’s space is over 11,000 square feet spread among three levels in the newly constructed building. It includes production, distillery tasting room, the distillery’s patented Cask Club®, private event space, retail space and an outdoor patio overlooking the Craft District’s outdoor amphitheater, which will host live concerts and events. The new Heritage Distilling facility was designed by fi architecture of Gig Harbor,  with Darrin Filand overseeing all aspects of design and implementation (https://www.fiarchitecture.com/).

“We especially want to thank the City of Gig Harbor and its residents who have supported us since we opened nine years ago. We are not leaving Gig Harbor; spirits and barrel storage and all company administrative roles will occur at HDC’s new Gig Harbor warehouse in the Latitude 47 development, plus retail sales will continue at HDC’s Waterfront tasting room, even as we grow this new location in Tumwater,” said Jennifer Stiefel,  President and Co-Founder of Heritage Distilling.

Upon its full buildout, the Craft District will feature a production brewery and tap room, winery tasting rooms, a  small craft producers’ market, the community college, restaurants, retail shops, commercial office space and an outdoor amphitheater. It is located in the shadow of the old Olympia Brewing facility along I-5 and overlooks the Deschutes River at 4200 Capitol Blvd SE, Suite 104, Tumwater WA 98501.

The facility will be open to the public daily 12-7 pm starting Friday, June 4, 2021. Opening festivities will begin  at 2:30 pm on June 4th, and will include HDC’s tradition of bagpipes, a blessing of the building and ribbon cutting.

Media guests are invited to preview the space by appointment with Hannah Hanley, CMO for Heritage  Distilling Company, hannah@heritagedistilling.com, 253-720-2205 prior to the public grand opening June 1-3,  2021.
