Commercial - Tenant Improvement

Des Moines, WA  –  Riot Games Remote Broadcast Center (RBC), Powered by AWS, represents Riot Games’ innovative approach to creating a centralized global broadcast model through a circuit of strategically-placed RBCs around the world. First launched under the codename “Project Stryker,” these RBCs work to provide increased capacity for Riot’s esports content and events while also lowering operational costs, and ensuring top-tier quality and consistency across all of our esports productions.

The design concept reimagined a warehouse space as a 2-story broadcast center. The Seattle location expanded the usable interior floor area by 16,230 square feet within the existing warehouse. The facility spans over 73,000 square feet total, supporting live esports broadcast production and operations for all of Riot’s regional and global events.

The facility features advanced technologies like AR/XR sound stages and multi-purpose insert studios, enabling more creative production opportunities. In collaboration with a similar facility in Dublin, Ireland, Project Stryker Seattle aims to bring the global esports experience closer to fans by offering unique content in various languages and providing real-time stats and insights during events.

fi architecture worked in collaboration with Henry J. Lyons’ Dublin office team and a host of local consultants to support Abbott Construction in delivering this state of the art facility.

Design features include:

  • Over 73,000 square feet on two levels.

  • New 2nd floor constructed from steel frame and cross-laminated timber floor deck to expedite construction.

  • Enhanced acoustic design to mitigate SeaTac air traffic noise.

  • Advanced Production Capabilities: The center includes six remote casting insert stages, six production control rooms (PCRs), and six audio control rooms. This setup allows the facility to manage and broadcast up to six live events simultaneously.

  • AWS Integration: The facility leverages Amazon Web Services (AWS) for Cloud Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Machine Learning, Cloud Deep Learning, and other cloud services. This integration enhances the production quality and provides real-time stats and insights during esports events.

  • Technical Operations Center (TOC): The TOC is a crucial component, ensuring smooth operations and coordination across various production elements.

  • Creative Production Spaces: The center features AR/XR sound stages and multi-purpose insert studios, enabling more creative and immersive production opportunities.

  • Collaborative Workspaces: The facility includes open-plan workspaces, collaboration zones, meeting rooms, and wellness rooms to support the diverse needs of the Project Stryker team.

These features collectively aim to deliver a high-quality, immersive viewing experience for esports fans worldwide.
