The Octagon
This existing 1970 shoreline cabin was reimagined as a bright, open and contemporary retreat for a professional couple and their family. Modestly sized at 1200 square feet, the open floor plan includes living, dining and kitchen spaces, two bedrooms, full bathroom and laundry closet. Exterior spaces include expansive open and covered deck areas for outdoor living along the water’s edge in addition to secured storage for personal watercraft.
Large, expansive windows allow panoramic views of the water while overhead skylights welcome daylight to spaces within. Due to the marine environment, the interior wall and ceiling surfaces are exclusively painted wood shiplap.
The family nicknamed the retreat “The Octagon” and the inspired architectural response followed.
